Along the Cambria Shores of California is an amazing sanctuary called The Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. This is a large open-space property that stretches approximately one mile along the ocean and includes part of Santa Rosa Creek. It contains habitat important to endangered and threatened species, including tidewater gobies, steelhead trout, red-legged frogs and Monterey pines. The trails are friendly to Plein air Artists.

The Fiscalini Ranch Preserve trails are friendly to Plein air Artists. I was intrigued by the whiteness of the waves and patterns of foam produced as wave breaks among the black rocks

On a family vacation in 2003 we toured the West Coast of California. One of our destinations was San Simeon. The rocky bay, pounding surf, and wild foliage all proved to be perfect subjects to paint.

This study of doves and pigeons in action was so much fun to do for one of my watercolor assignments at the American Academy of Art in 1980. Under the guidance of Mr. Irving Shapiro, he gave me an A- as a grade for this exercise.
30 yrs. later, who would of known, this would serve as a perfect Twitter background.

This painting was part of my National Park Series. This Grand Canyon study showed the stark morning light illuminating the canyon floor on both on rock and water.
